i am interested in things that rock. vague, yes. but thorough. i like and dislike a lot of different things. here are some examples.
LIKES: coffee, writing, making up + telling dumb jokes, subject-verb agreement, cooking, make up.
DISLIKES: rootbeer, washing dishes, filing, poor grammar, butt-stink, math. oh yeah, and just because i work in the people business does NOT mean i like people.
I'd like to meet:
someone with nice handwriting who can teach me origami. or can do that thing i can do with my thumbs. it would be nice. we could go for a walk where it's quiet and dry, and talk about precious things.
Music:
i like a lot of different types of music. i adore the cure, sleater kinney, depeche mode, morrissey, radiohead, and belle & sebastian. currently in rotation i also include the likes of catpower, pj harvey, portishead, shakira, erasure, neworder, neil diamond, death cab for cutie, and elliot smith. i love tom petty, without a shred of irony. i never quite got over nine inch nails, though there were a couple years that i just couldn't listen. also, a bit obsessed with interpol lately. like to the point that, if you cared about me at all, you'd start considering an intervention. mmm... narc.
in summary: happiness for me=music. therefore, concerts are the highlights of my life. kind of a compulsion of mine, really.

another category in which listing becomes relatively pointless for me, as i am quite the movie nerd.

i must admit i sing/dialogue along everytime i watch a movie i really love. i try to keep that compulsion under control though, except with the knights of ni. you should know that i generally do not like disney films. there, i said it.

obviously, the simpsons. also, nip/tuck, the oc (no shame either), grey's anatomy, heroes, betty la fea in english, dirt, and law and order: svu. i have the uncanny ability to doom new shows, however, in that if i really like them they usually get cancelled. starved was one of those. also, arrested development, conviction, and the heights.
and in a place in my heart like no other: X-FILES POR VIDA.
Books:
too many to list. or even attempt to list as i tried with music. top 5 books right now: woman hollering creek, the great gatsby, me talk pretty one day, so far from god, and of mice and men.
contrary to popular belief, i AM actually a big fan of David Sedaris, "but then again, why would i be?"
Heroes:
my parents, my grandparents (who have all taught me some valuable stuff) sandra cisneros, emily dickinson (we share a birthday), padre romero, perry farrell, cesar chavez AND dolores huerta, people who know better than to end a sentence in a preposition, and your mom.
