Artist Fulgencio Lazo and his team create a colorful tapete (sand painting) in the museum lobby.
October 18, 2008:
Community members and organizations install ofrendas (altars) in the third floor education atrium.
October 21 - October 31, 2008:
School tours offering curriculum connections for educators are available at Tacoma Art Museum.
November 2, 2008:
FREE Community Celebration for Dia de los Muertos featuring live music, dancing, traditional food, sugar skulls decorating, and papel picado. Museum admission is free from noon to 6 pm.

Saturdays in October:
Free Dia De Los Muertos Papier-mâché Workshops for the 4th annual6th Ave Dia de los Muertos Procession.
Classes are Saturdays from 10 am to noonin the basement of Epworth-LeSourd Church710 S. Anderson Street, Tacoma.Come to one or all the workshops and learn how to make a skull mask, Dia de los Muertos type figure or work on a group project to be used in this year’s procession.For more information visit:

Thursday, October 16, 5-9 pm:
Two Vaults fourth annual Dia de los Muertos celebartion will kickoff with it's opening fiesta as a part of Tacoma's third Thursday Artwalk. The show features beautiful detailed iconic altar boxes by Chanda Castillo, Susie Cowan's dead family portraits, Happy mariachis painted on old fence wood by Lulu, and many more participating artist's work. The opening evening includes fresh pan de muertos, authentic music, and a surprise visit by a seven foot tall Katrina. This show will run through November 14th.
