About Me

Sam Carner (bookwriter/lyricist) and Derek Gregor (composer) began working together in 2002 at the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, from which both received MFAs in 2003. Derek had graduated from Skidmore in 2000, and Sam from Yale in 2001. They have written several one-act musicals, spec songs, and novelty songs.Their musical UNLOCK'D received a Richard Rodgers Award, and was presented at the 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival, where it won the "Best of the Fest" audience award and Talkin' Broadway citations for "Best Original Theatrical Score" and "Best Musical."SING, BUT DON'T TELL (An Evening of Carner & Gregor) will be presented as a one-night-only concert in this year's New York Musical Theatre Festival. October 18. Sam has taught musical theatre history and analysis at Yale and NYU. Derek co-created and plays in the rock-band M-LAB.
