About Me

Bio:"Music as a tool will swoon and beguile" sings Kris Gruen, on "Tender Theory", the opening track from his debut record, Lullaby School, a fragile yet rich blend of intelligent and wistful pop. Since its release in 2006, Kris has toured the US sharing the stage with the likes of Sean Lennon, The Avett Brothers, Bishop Allen, Jesse Malin, Nicole Atkins, Anais Mitchell, The Bowmans and more. His songs offer a fresh approach to Americana song writing sensibilities and focus on themes of relationship: personal, romantic, social and otherwise. From deftly plucked banjo, soothing vocals and frenetic beats, the songs move you from moods that at once haunt, then embolden, then celebrate.Born and raised in New York City, Kris lives and performs in Central Vermont and is no stranger to the world of music. His father, the famed rock photographer Bob Gruen, has long been synonymous with immortalizing countless musical icons on film, but Kris has chosen to pursue a path more similar to the lives of those of his father’s subjects.Kris is currently in Los Angeles putting the final touches on his next full-length due out later this year on Mother West.www.myspace.com/krisgruen www.krisgruen.com www.motherwest.com
