OUR SALES PITCH:
Start with BIG wailing vocals iced over thick, velvety distored guitars; add a driving rhythm section and you have a great start for a sweet rock band. Take these elements, combined with catchy melodies and clever hook-driven songwriting, and now you have a band to right home to your friends about. Make that band rock your socks off with a high energy, entertaining live show, and you have Bancroft; the sweetest thing since the invention of the microwave. "But who are these guys?" you ask. Well just four hardworking beautiful men who love to play their music and are on a mission to take it the top....
Bancroft's sound fuses genres of rock, pop, and even funk to create a delightful medley of distorted guitars, infectious hooks, and fun, but captivating lyrics. Currently Bancroft is promoting their second full-length CD, The Melophobic Solution, released the fall of 2005. They are quickly making a name for themselves throughout Ohio and even the nation. Songs from the disc have been played across the country on nearly 200 radio stations. They have also shared the stage with such performs as The Ataris, Dropping Daylight, Love Arcade, Wheatus, and Local H .
HERE IS WHAT HAS BEEN SAID BY OTHERS:
The second full-length release from this Ohio-based pop/rock quartet is a catchy, hook-filled album that walks a fine line between Bad Religion and Foo Fighters. This collection of anthemic tunes is driven by the turbo-charged interplay between guitarists Brett Duffy and Andrew Hutchinson. The vocals are solid, and the rhythm section supplies a steady underpinning to what sounds like alternative radio candy. On the band's earlier release, the music was based on acoustic guitar. Now the band has junked the acoustic and turned to a purely electric atmosphere. It's a good move, as all of these songs contain enough high-energy rock to carry these boys to the top.

Scratch Magazine
"It's about time a local band gain some notoriety for putting out good music and Bancroft does just that with their new CD, "The Melophobic Solution," a mixture of insane guitars, powerful beats and true lyrics reaching to listeners in various ways....Bancroft has promise to grow and reach out to more fans in other states than Ohio."
-Justin Zelm,
The BG News
The Melophobic Solution is a much better record that what gets attached under the Weezer/pop-rock underbelly these days. Songs like "American Psycho" hearken back to the more popular moments of early nineties alternative rock, a rusty riff that breaks into a loud and memorable chorus. Then a song like "Worst Mistake" strips down the formula into a pleasing pop-rock exercise. Ultimately, Bancroft owes more to the bands that were the forefathers of the aforementioned current hit makers.
