Zero One

About Me

The Beginning: Utrecht (NL) -based Zero One was born in 1968 as Sander Friedeman. From very early age on, he has been highly interested in (dance)music. His musical career started around 1985, playing electronic disco, funk & hiphop on local school- & student partys. In 1988, he was immediately blown away by the then revolutionary new energetic sounds of Chicago acid house and Detroit techno.

Production: As a logical result, Zero One started to produce his own music. In August 1991, he performed live for the first time at a local underground party, together with school-mate Arno Peeters. Under the name of Random XS, a series of deep, experimental acid/techno records were released on the well-known Djax-Up-Beats label. Besides Random XS, numerous solo records, remixes and cooparations with others were released on several recordlabels. In 1994, Arno's place in Random XS was taken over by Frank de Groodt, who was then already recording for Djax-Up and other labels.

Live performances: Random XS tracks like Give your body, Fading away and Frantic Formula gained much international respect. As a result, many live- and DJ performances were given all over Europe and even in the USA. Finally, they gained succes in their home country too. Around 2000, Zero One decided to concentrate more on DJ-ing, his first love. Incidentally, Random XS still performs live on special occasions.

Zero One now teams up with Cosmic Force & DJ Drifter in the new superband Nederzuur. Watch out for more......
