Muma Doesa is a solo emcee/ poet/vocalist of mixed South African blood born and raised in Melbourne. The first Australian born in her family, her parents left South Africa to escape the racial injustice of apartheid. Currently Muma Doesa is performing solo to promote her new mixtape "The Muma Doesa Mixtape Marinade", and also with The Public Opinion Afro Funk Orchestra in Melbourne. This mammoth ensemble comprises up to twenty musicians hand-picked from Melbourne’s African, jazz & hip-hop scenes.BOOKINGS:
[email protected] 2004 until 2007, Muma Doesa was an original member of all girl crew : Ladies Luv Hip Hop, a crew of young women emcees, dj’s, dancers, graffiti writers, vocalists, film makers and photographers.Highlight shows are The Big Day Out 2006, Hosting a dj workshop with Roc Raida at Djs United Mixing School 2008, and The Emerging Writer’s Festival 2009.
Other gigs include: running an emcee workshop at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre with Mc Liones in 2007, to help young women with lyrical compositions and performance.Muma Doesa’s lyrics reflect on real life adventures in Melbourne and South Africa,
delivered with a passionate yet agile flow.
