Mr. Diggs ( aka Diggs ) started making beats in 1996 when he and some friends from his Southside of Chicago neighborhood decided to invest in a production studio. There were four people involved in the studio venture, and it was clear to everyone involved that Diggs would be handling all the beatmaking and engineering duties. He learned the equipment extremely fast and in a matter of a week was putting out several beats a day. Diggs and fellow investor/emcee G Rah started recording songs and doing local shows and adopted the name Deep Circle.After a year or so Deep Circle decided to test the airwaves of WHBK, The University of Chicago radio station. HBK had an underground hip hop show several nights a week and would frequently play music from local artists. Deep Circle initially submitted two songs and the response was immediate, yall shit is tight. The Saturday night host was feeling the beats and rhymes so much that he decided to have them on every week. Consequently, Diggs got the opportunity to work with other emcees from his exposure on the radio show. One such emcee was Kazi Tha Black. His content was similar to that being put out by Deep Circle, conscious hip hop.Shortly after Kazi got on-line, Diggs began to focus on Kazi and Diggs, the name they would go by. They recorded two independent albums ( R.O.A.R. in 2000, and Are You Feeling It? in 2001 ). They also recorded material for two albums compiled by Mr. Diggs for issues of Frontline and Blackfist magazines. These compilation albums also contained material from Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, The Roots, and Jeru the Damaja.In the summer of 2004, Diggs relocated to Cincinnati/Dayton area where he remains active in the Chicago and Nati hip hop scenes. Diggs is currently making beats for Chicago hip hop artist Hall of Fame, Kazi Tha Black, and Pugslee Atomz, and also engineering/producing tracks at ELEMENTZ, a hip hop youth arts community center in downtown Cincinnati.Mr. Diggs is still pursuing a career as a beatmaker/producer and is constantly improving his skills.
