Carlos Solorzano is a professional drummer & composer from Southern Arizona. He released his first solo CD titled "Standing Alone" in 2002, which was a collection of multi-tracked drumming compositions based on world rhythms. It was eventualy picked up for distribution by Peacework Music.His music has been featured on VH1's Viva Hollywood television show, KXCI radio in Tucson, AZ on The Connection & Global Rhythm Radio shows, KAOS radio in Olympia, Washington on the Spin the Globe show. and KKNT Radio in Phoenix, AZ for the Arizona Music Cafe show.His music is available for licensing as he is currently on the artist roster for Mastersource Music Catalog, NOMA Music, 1000 Tracks.com c/o e5 Music, Stockmusic.net, Versus Media and is in negotiations with several other licensing companies.He is also an award winning composer who has earned multiple ASCAPLUS Awards in the category of Jazz and Contemporary Music and an ACAG-Arizona Career Advancement Grant from the Arizona Commission of the Arts for the composing and recording of original material for music licensing...As a solo performer he adapts world rhythms to the American drumkit and, through the use of 4 way independence, imitates the sound of a percussion combo without any accompaniment.He has performed this act on live on Access Tucson's Noche de Sonora television show, KXCI Radio's Global Rhythm Radio show, webcasts, various clubs, outdoor festivals and even as a featured performer at the Arizona Black Film Showcase.Carlos has also been featured in the December 2008 issue of DRUM! Magazine in the New Blood Section as well as the Sahuarita Sun newspaper and Quail Notes newslette and has been cited on KGUN News and the Arizona Daily Star Newspaper.Aside from his solo ventures, he is a co-founder/co-songwriter for the Christian band Come Thristy, leads the Jazz/Fusion/Funk Band Sonoran Sol and freelances both live and in the studio through the great state of Arizona...Carlos Solorzano is endorsed by SOULTONE CYMBALS, LOS CABOS DRUMSTICKS, HANSENFUTZ PEDALS & MONO HYBRID CASES. He is available for solo performances, clinics, pro gigs & sessions...Prior to relocating to the Arizona desert he performed & recorded in the Los Angeles area as a drummer & songwriter with several acts including: SANAIYA, CINERGI EFFECT(who had their song "Forever" featured in the film "Pinata: Survival Island"), FICTITIOUS SMITH, & his percussion quartet MANITO.On many occasions he shared the bill with big name artists such as Maroon 5, Nancy Sinatra, Eric Burdon of The Animals, Rick Derringer, Tierra & the Black Rebel Motorcylce Club. Aside from performing with his own groups he has worked as a hired hand live (including television spots), toured and worked for various artists in the studio.He is also a co-founding member of INVOCATION OF IMPROVISATION, a progressive/experimental/improvisational duo along with accomplished guitarist Andre Marins that will continue its recording and performance endeavors sometime in the near future.Carlos studied drumset for 13 years and has an Associates Degree in Music from El Camino Community College in Torrance, CA. He also plays guitar, bass, piano & sings a baritone background vocal. As a member of several Los Angeles bands many of his original songs were featured in the set lists at many of the top clubs in town. He continues to write new music with Come Thirsty as well as in his own time and hopes to some of his non-percussive material available for licensing as well. He also spent many years teaching private lessons and is planning one day to gather many of his concepts and ideas into a drumming book.Carlos is also a writer and is currently working on a original fiction series, several non-fiction works as well as some drumming articles that he hopes to have published in various drum magazines and websites. Currently, he writes a monthly feature for Heartbeat the Magazine and is a regular contributer to the websites World Wide Bible Studies & Wrecked for the Ordinary. He has also had his writings featuring in the Los Angeles Times, The Tidings, Arizona Writer's Blog, Indy NY, Pro Life America, The Liberator Magazine & Good News Tucson.Carlos has a BA & MA in Religious Studies and is available for consultation and speaking engagments on faith issues such as Respect for Life, Global Christianity, Teen Ministries as well as Theology of the Body.
