About Me

I play drums. I also take photos of bands. I would like to combine the two but my pictures come out shaky.
I'm always happy to put my drumming limbs to good use.
(I used to play in "H. Girvin's Celebrity Dance Band" of a Thursday night. Unfortunately Mr Girvin took to the drink and the band parted ways. Note my pioneering deployment of tubular bells)
Drumming (in 2 bands - greedy boy!) at Offset Festival:
Some of my Offset photos: Wire, The Young Knives, and, er, surely not...Eddie?
Some of my photos from this year's Indietracks Festival (click on Beulah the dog to see more):

This summer I will mostly be...drumming at festivals: Rip It Up in Sweden / Indietracks Festival with The Wedding Present & Darren Hayman / Offset with Wire & Gang Of Four / recording a debut album. Or I might just go to Corfu.
Bands wot I've drummed in:
Pictures wot I've taken of other bands:
Darren Hayman, Malcolm Middleton, Los Camps

(btw, the main photo at the top of the page is one I found in a box of old family photos my Gran left when she died. I have no idea who the children are, but I guess I like not knowing anything about it.)
" I'm never going to be famous.
I don't do anything.
Not one single thing.
I used to bite my nails, but I don't even do that any more. "

I work at a primary school during the day. Our school uniform
rules are a little lax.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Dear Jim, I would like to meet the following personages (ideally in their prime, preferably not dead, and hopefully when sitting alone in a Little Chef restaurant):

Anna Karina, Anais Nin, Morrissey, Francois Hardy, Egon Schiele, Louise Brooks, Albert Camus, Dorothy Parker, Keith Waterhouse, Chantal Goya, Mark E Smith (on a good day), Jeffrey Bernard, Kim Hiorthøy, Oscar Wilde, Steven Wright, Stuart Murdoch, Montgomery Clift, Wim Wenders, Francois Truffaut, Jean Renoir, Jean Genet, the cast of Rent-A-Ghost.
Anyone who can see the sublime in the everyday.
And, of course, YOU. Aah...

I believe that the library is humankind's greatest invention. I also believe that everyone else knows something that I don't, which disturbs me a little.

I love dancing scenes in movies (not musicals or 'dance movies', just random dance scenes in movies).

One of my favourite dancing scenes ever:

- Shall we dance?
- Why not?
