The Factors

About Me

Formed in 2003, in the outskirts of Dublin in Lucan, Baz and Baz began their meteoric rise over a mutual admiration of music. They quickly developed their own songs - early versions of "Tangled Web" and "All the Love Songs are written" could be collectors items in years to come. The duo quickly moved onto edgier material such as "Best Laid Plans", Magic Feet and "F*ck the Begrudgers". However it was their versatiltiy that was noted by long term fans such as Ken Phillips who was particularly struck by the hard rock that is "Best Laid Plans" and the schoolboy fantasy that is "Ms Nelson".Over the course of late 2004 and 2005 the duo hit a creative high and their song count raised dramatically and fan favourites such as "Trojan Theory", "Love I called your name" and Limboland rose from the ashes. Some gigging occured in late 2005, the highlight being a quickfire slot in Slatterys. Fans such as Niamh Ryan ("the most promising band I've seen in years") and the serial concert goer Paul Lovett ("best gig I've been to this year") were quick to jump on the steam train that is the factors. In early 2006 The Factors were joined by New Zealand bass player and musical magician Mike Penhall. Mike broght a new dimension to the band, bringing in influences such as punk, country and reggae. Unfortunately Mike departed home to New Zealand in November 06 and the Factors gave him the best possible send off at a packed out gig in a secret location in Dublin west. What the future holds for the factors who knows? But with new songs in the pipleine such as "These Times Ahead", "Two Of A Kind" and "Imaginary Friends", it is clear the factors continue to push their creative boundaries.Early 2007 has seen the band continue to work on new material and band have been joined now by a new keyboardist, the enigmatic Aidan McDevitt, who has added his own stamp on the band.Late 2007 has seen a surge of activity in output with new song "Something Heavy" sure to be a Factors classic. McDevitt has added a more melodic sound to the band.In October the factors played two well received gigs in Crawdaddy and The Hub. Further live appearances will on the agenda in 2008 so watch this space......
