About Me

Like Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, Ed Tracy is a man who went out in search of an adventure and never returned home. Tracy’s bright, Beefhartian base for skewed-pop cosies-up alongside Edwyn Collins and Sufjan Stevens. Lurching over a loose conglomerate of guitars, keys, bass, sax and samples, Tracy is clearly the proprietor of a unique mind that rightly acknowledges that the sullen seam of post-punk has been mined to exhaustion. Although lachrymose lyricism peppers the majority of his bittersweet pop, Tracy is at his best when he finds time to laugh at the moment he flicked Vs at his boss on Sackable Offence, and ruminating on daytime coitus. ” Are we post-watershed, on four post waterbed?” the singer asks on Between The Sheets, clearly too caught up in the moment to really care about waiting for an answer.THE METRO

Tremors

I was awoken thismorning by a strange wobbling sensation as though the world around me was stretching and bending. The mescaline I took last night should have worn off by now so it can't be that. I ra...

LA Story - part two

I'd always regarded the trashing of hotel rooms as the pastime of choice for bored rock stars. However, the land of the free taught me it's a pursuit that can be enjoyed by anyone with a couple of ove...

The one where Ed pisses on the Alamo

So the Wicked Witch of Sarm West caught me napping on one of the studio's many comfortable leather couches. "I'm not having it!" she ranted. "What do you think this place is? A bloody bed and breakfas...

Scramble The Airwaves

This was recorded in Newcastle last Autumn at the same time as Just Footsteps Away. Enjoyed playing the lead guitar part on a guitar made of balsa wood. I literally shredded the instrument during a so...

Some stupid with a flare gun

"Artists must work harder" announced new EMI owner Guy Hands last week. These words echoed around my mind as I dozed on a train headed for the Swiss Alps, my case heavy with cheap fags, cut price vodk...
