About Me

This web-site is NOT run by Amy Steel, this is an UNOFFICIAL fan-made web-site...("Biography")...Amy Steel was born in Pennsylvania USA on May 3, 1960. Amy's acting career began in West-Chester, Pennsylvania in 1973 when she attended West-Town school of dramatic arts...After two summers of dramatic training, Amy joined Barley-Sheaf Players and starred in two productions...She temporarily left the theatre to further pursue her academic career at the prestigious Kent school in Kent, Conneticut...After three years at Kent, Amy left to attend a small college in Palm Beach, Florida where she majored in communications and broadcasting...It was there that John Casablancas, President of the renowned Elite model Agency discovered her...Amy left Florida for New York in June 1979, career opportunities in modelling, television and film soon followed...Amy has appeared in many television commercials, several soap operas and many hit movies...Amy appeared on the first season of Family Ties, she is noted for being the girl with whom Michael J. Fox's character loses his virginity...Amy is most remembered for playing "Ginny Field in Friday The 13th Part 2"...& as "Kit Graham in April Fool's Day"...Her character Ginny on Friday the 13th Part 2 was supposed to be killed by Jason, but the producers later decided during filming that they needed to have someone survive...Amy was going to star in the third installment of the Friday the 13th series reprising her role as Ginny from Part 2, but her agent at the time told her not to sign on as she was getting "bigger and better roles"...The same agent also told Amy to pass up on the opportunity to star in "Halloween 4 The Return of Michael Myers"... because she took her agents advice, Amy lost out on the chance to star in these two films, which would have made her an even bigger Scream Queen than she already is. (needless to say Amy fired her agent, thank god)...Amy is still regarded by fans as one of the best & favourite heroines of the Friday The 13th franchise...Considerd by many horror fans to be the finest & toughest gal to endure the horror of Camp Crystal Lake... Scrollbox Code from MySpaceSupport.com ("What was it like filming Friday The 13th Part 2?")...Amy recalls, I remember seeing the first film and thinking, what a funny hatchet job this is...Amy who was basically a babe in the acting woods when she auditioned for the role in New York, says...When I got the part, I just laughed. I said, It's sequel time...On set working for two months at night on a film like this eventually gave me the heebie-jeebies. Constantly having dirt & water thrown on you & watching these actors you're working with getting killed & blood pouring out of them...you know it's not real, but at a certain point it all becomes a very tense experience...("Was the role demanding?")...Being scared is a relatively easy emotion to reach for. I didn't really have to prepare for Ginny because the role was not that complex. I was basically a prop, it's not that hard to imagine somebody coming after you with a knife... Scrollbox Code from MySpaceSupport.com ("The Window Scene")...One day, after a particularly hectic evening of filming on Friday the 13th, Part 2, director Steven Miner invites Amy to go for a ride in the country...A little horror hanky-panky? Is this the real untold story? No, Amy describes Miner as the perfect gentleman...We were driving down the road, and Steve was saying things like, Aren't the trees beautiful in the fall? When I was feeling real relaxed, he said...Oh, by the way, we have to shoot that scene again...That scene in question - in which Jason crashes through the window and grabs Ginny (Amy's alter ego) off the bed - was one of many the actress endured during two months of night filming on the first Friday the 13th sequel...Amy really hated filming the final scene in the film, the one where Jason jumps through the window and grabbed her. In fact, her reaction on screen was her real reaction...I didn't care for that scene at all, she grimaces...something would always go wrong, and we ended up having to shoot it three times. Because it required me to be emotionally involved and believably scared I got a little crazed by the time the third take came around...The worst part was sitting on the bed and hearing that high-speed camera make that whirring sound. All of a sudden this monster would come crashing through the window... Scrollbox Code from MySpaceSupport.com ("Amy Draws First Blood")...In another scene, the heroine got even with Jason in a bloody and (unfortunately for Steve Daskawisz "Jason") real accident...It was the scene where I put on the sweater, pretending I'm Mrs. Voorhees, Amy specifies...I lift up the machete and bring it down on Jason. I got a little carried away and really put the machete through his finger...We had to stop shooting while they took him to the hospital to get his finger sewn up. I felt bad, because I really drew blood...Believe it or not, at the hospital Steve Dash actually had to get 13 stitches in his finger (spooky??)...When Amy wasn't chopping up the crew, she did what all of Friday's damsels in distress are noted for...lots of running, screaming, and just plain acting frightened... Scrollbox Code from MySpaceSupport.com ("The Aftermath")...Amy didn't dive for cover when she saw Friday 2 for the first time. I was happy, and I got fairly good reviews even though all the critics hated the film...She clarifies, I'm not a big star right now, so doing the film couldn't have done too much for my career, but I do remember going to parties and having agents come up to compliment me on my work in the film...I did go on to do April Fools Day, and I have worked since Friday the 13th so, if nothing else, that film served the purpose of getting me through the next door...In fact, career prospects were looking so up for Steel in 1982 that she turned down the chance to return in Friday the 13th, Part 3...My agents said, No, you're moving on to bigger and better things, explains Amy...If I had to do it all over again, I think I would do the third one - for more money of course... Scrollbox Code from MySpaceSupport.com("Fellow Friday Cast Members")...The acting community being what it is, Amy occasionally encounters fellow thespians who have labored in a Friday the 13th sequel...And it's funny, because when you do, you just kind of stare at each other for a few seconds and then bust out laughing, Amy grins...It's like a secret society of actors who did one of those movies... Scrollbox Code from MySpaceSupport.comAmy is married to her childhood sweetheart & they have 2 daughters who are almost grown up...She has 3 brothers, no sisters & and a mom and dad that are still living...Amy has a very cool group of around 5 people, her family included, that she can count on & who are all her best friends...As a past time Amy likes to ride horses, hang with my family, and sit around and shoot the shit. She also likes to read, hike, eat good food, and every now and then, shop 'til she drops...As far as what Amy dose when shes not acting...hint...What was Ginny going to school for in Friday The 13th Part 2? (Child Psychology)...but she has never totally given up acting...Today Amy still does voice overs for TV & radio...Some of Amy's favorite films are...Days of Heaven, The Shawshank Redemption, Manny and Lo, Lost in Translation & as far as horror films, she is still trying to recover from the Exorcist...
