Been a singer songwriter since I was 11 or 12. Used to record myself with a guitar onto one of those old cassette decks and then play it back and sing with it while recording onto a second one. Learned how to harmonize that way. Kept bouncing the track back and forth to add more harmonies and other guitar parts until the sound quality diminished so much that only I could decipher what was going on. To everyone else, I guess it was like "tuneful mud".
Spent my teens and early 20s writing, recording and performing. Formed a band with a number of incarnations (Smilin' Ben and then later on, Family Ritual) and joined the great John Southworth for a few years, recording ("Mars Pennsylvania") and touring with him until departing in 1998. Co-wrote, performed and produced "Saloon" as a third of Family Ritual and enjoyed that immensely. Shortly after, we heard some of these songs in some movies and TV shows.
Have spent the years since marrying and having kids and trying to keep up, working on some new material and other songs that I've been meaning to finish.
As always, I remain a work in progress.
