Restoration will be a social enterprise helping young people develop a wide range of music related skills including, music production, DJ'ing, MC'ing, lyric writing, performing, CD design and CD distribution. As well as learning about the relationship between music and culture. Initially we will be based at Romsey Mill youth centre in Cambridge but eventually we will take place at schools, youth centres, and music venues through the use of our mobile studio.
We feel the project will help young people between 8 - 30. We especially want to help kids that are deprived and have difficulties at school. Our classes will help them express themselves and boost their confidence and self esteem e.g. through producing their own CD. Also it will help them process their emotions through writing lyrics and creating songs. We feel it will be a positive addition to any school curriculum and will encourage young people to turn up to school.
As we have faced some of the same challanges that the young people we want to work with may face, (e.g. difficultys at home), and have overcome them we feel we can relate to kids and be positive role models encouraging them to use their experiences to their advantages rather than becoming angry and disillusioned. We will also promote anti-crime and anti-drugs messages through our work.
The business will be running from Romsey Mill, a youth and community centre. However a completion of driving lessons we hope to be able to become mobile. Once we are mobile we will visit youth clubs and music venues in the Cambridge area.RESTORATION CAMP IS A NEW THING TO HIT THE STREETS OF CAMBRIDGE, WE ARE HARD WORKING PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER TO ACHEIVE OUR MUSICAL GOALS IN LIFE!
