Biography:
One of the most popular DJs on the London circuit and a veteran of the international scene, Alex has enjoyed a prestigious DJ career spanning nearly 10 years.
Highlights in the early years include:
3 years as the resident DJ at Es Paradis in Ibiza.
Guest sets for Cream at Amnesia in Ibiza.
6 months as a weekly resident for Slinky and MTV in Tokyo, Japan.
6 months as the weekly resident for Slinky in Ibiza.
Several monthly residencies in the United States.
After all that time abroad, he took some time out in 2004 before returning to clubland recharged and with a renewed enthusiasm.
Hooked on the fresh and exciting new electro sounds emanating from London’s clubs, he gradually ground out his own individual style; a dirty but tougher sound, fusing electro with elements of breaks, tech-house, and progressive house.
Versatile as ever, no set ever sounds quite the same, and he refuses to pigeon-hole himself into any one genre.
However, it’s a dirty, sexy, and hugely danceable sound that, mixed with his infectious energy behind the decks, has brought him a full diary of guest sets across London at illustrious clubs such as The Cross, The Key, Canvas, Egg, Heaven and Pacha.
His first set (of many) at Pacha in June 2005 earnt him appearance in that Novembers Mixmag as the months “Readers Saint”.
He began his 2 year residency for the hugely popular “Dirtbox” night (monthly Fridays) at Turnmills in March 2006, made his festival debut at HiFi South (formerly Homelands) in May, and then played alongside Armin Van Buuren at the official afterparty of London festival South West Four in August.
A full diary across the UK and Europe during the rest of the year won him even more fans, and an amazing year was then rounded off nicely with the closing set for Platform 12 at The Key on New Years Eve with Krafty Kuts and The Stanton Warriors.
2007 continued in the same vein, adding new residencies for "Electric Boogaloo" and "Origami" to the existing Dirtbox one, along with a stronger emphasis on production, building on the success of his first solo production “Last Man Standing” as well as his two collaborations, “Durty Munky” and “The Little Voices (That Tell Me)”.
Another full year was again rounded off at The Key on NYE (for it’s last ever night before closing), with the closing set after Hybrid.
Who knows what 2008 holds, but Alex certainly intends to spend a lot more time in the studio, although you’ll still be able to catch him out DJing every so often - just keep your eyes and ears open.
In summary, Alex is an impressive, unmistakable talent, who is totally at ease with the music and the crowd - whatever style he happens to be playing. It’s the combination of persistent hard work and an ability to read, entertain, and surprise a crowd during each and every one of his sets that continues to make him such a success.
