Our organization is inspired by the very first Pilipino American woman to win two gold medals in the 1948 London Olympics. Her name is Victoria Manalo Draves, a woman who persevered through the racial barriers in her diving career. The Manalo Movement aims to inspire its members and the community to educate, take action on Asian American issues, and honor Asian American heroes/heroines from the past and present.
The Manalo Movement also aims to give Vicky Manalo the rightful recognition she deserves from a community that has been silent for far too long; we strive to get Manalo into BASHOF (Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame) so that the community and especially the youth can see that it is possible for them to achieve success as well.
