About Me

The Building Press was a band from Seattle, Wa. USA. We made a hand full of proper albums, home made EPs, and toured relentlessly in the 8 years we were active.
The Amplitude Of Frequencies Over Time, released by Woodon Lateral Records was written and performed by Jeff Woodke, Jim Aquavella and A.P. Schroder and was recorded by Greg Williamson in Seattle at The Laundry Room.
Young Money, released by 54º40' or Fight! was written and performed by Jeff Woodke, Eric "Erock" Junge, and A.P. Schroder. Tho Jim Aquavella had a good hand in writing a portion of this album, he departed shortly after a touring arrangement was made between the band and 54º40' or Fight! (Jim had family obligations that restricted him from supporting such a release). Young Money was recorded by Jay Pellicci at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco, Ca. I was so sick with the flu during those sessions. I remember some writer reviewing this album and using the words "vocal diarrhea". Something.
There is a Live album out there that Emusic.com put up for us. It was impeccably recorded in our favorite city, Chicago, playing one of our best shows to our favorite audience. This recording, to me, showcases the band in its prime and features many new songs that we didnt get to put out formally before we called it quits for various reasons. I wanted to name it "Van Life". Go find it.
Eric Junge now plays in the Seattle band "Patrol". Jim Aquavella now plays in the Seattle band "Bronze Fawn". A.P. Schroder now plays in the Brooklyn band "Black Horse". Jefferey Woodke now is in Hollywood, making it much much cooler than it was years ago before he moved there. All of the exTBP folks bands are in the TBP "Top 8". Check it out if you get the notion.
If you are REALLY REALLY REALLY into TBP, I may still have a few trinkets of EPs, T-Shirts, butons, etc. laying around. Drop a line. I check this from time to time.
Thanks everybody for coming out, writing in, and just generally liking this band. They were some of the best times of my life.

Band Members: J. Woodke, J. Aquavella, E. Junge, A.P. Schroder
Influences: Ornette Coleman once said: “if you make a mistake, repeat it.” Al Johnson of US Maple once said to me: “We pray for mistakes.” And listening to a dozen of presentations by business consulters during the last years in my dayjob made me realise that, if you do everything 100 % right, you are doing something fundamentally wrong. Maybe that is the core to the songwriting of the Building Press. Could be worse. “So why don’t you sit here, while we play these fucking songs songs songs songs.”
Sounds Like: "When The Building Press moves in to togetherness and tightness, they spin and slide along with precise plays of dynamics that jump from slight jazz to just outta sight rock. It's all in there though, and when it gets out, it's got you". -The Big Take Over
"a messy, unfocused and ultimately exhilarating record from these Seattle newcomers." - Skyscraper
"this Seattle-based outfit has put the "ow" in power trio, and its sophomore release, Young Money , offers no respite"- Westword Weekly
" I know that I am not the ONLY person in the world who thinks that a record that sounds like Steve Albini having a nervous breakdown in the middle of a Shellac show would be something worth listening to more than once" - Mundane Sounds
"The Building Press get a thumbs up for not just standing outside the box, but stomping on it too" -Aural Innovations
"the trio's jutting riffs, stop-start rhythms, sandpapered textures, and stuttered tempos work to the band's advantage" - The Stranger
" an intense, evocative record" - Punk Planet
"a powerhouse of good songwriting and great melodies" - Portland Mercury
"these kids from Seattle shut down hecklers with one of the best sets I've seen in sometime." - Discorder
"Such graceful beautiful awkwardness, so hard-boiled and angular and ‘difficult’ but so so graceful and easy on the ear - so so satisfying and the quality of the sound…. Oh yes, please please do make the effort, I wouldn’t want to be the only one here enjoying this so much " -Organ
"this music makes me neurotic." - Read Magazine
"Western Washington has plenty of meth labs, and this record might have been recorded in one" - Bettawreckonize
"This album is a true gem" -Impact Press
"Poised to explode on the artrock scene, BP offer up tortured ramblings for the indie junkie." -American Music Press
