About Me

Born in Huntsville, AL and raised in a small town just north of there on the Tennessee state line, Eric quickly realized what it was like to be born and raised country. His mother’s commitment to the church and his father’s commitment to hard work and things of more earthly overtones placed Eric in a humble environment which was the prime ingredients for a common man in the making. At an early age he found himself singing along to classic hymns while attending every church service with his mother and brother and then again along with the radio in the kitchen on Friday and Saturday nights while he watched his family (Dad, aunts and uncles) play Rook cards until early hours of the morning, while drinking liquids that wouldn’t be found in a Sunday morning communion. This mixture of heartfelt music and a good-timing atmosphere landed him in the churches quartet at age five and then on the becoming the lead singer of a successful country/southern rock band (Eric Maddox & The Hired Guns). Eric also utilizes his deep country roots and southern upbringing as a pin to capture, via songwriting, his real life’s experiences of both himself and those around him. The song that would best describe Eric is one in which he wrote while taking a deep look at himself as a person, both in character and in the simple way he was raised. His high respect for protecting his name and other things that are right are also mentioned in this song and evident in his life. It sums up a person that was proudly born into a hardworking God fearing family that has had its share of good and hard times. When you ask him, Eric says he has no regrets about the way he was raised and takes great pride in knowing he was born and brought up just the way the song states… Countrified.Eric's own words: "I am just a country boy from a little town named Hazel Green, Al. I have been around music all of my life starting with our churches quartet at age 5. I have a deep love for music and more important music with feelin'. I just love connecting with people through music and having a good time. Like I said, I'm just a good ole boy."

Influences: My influences range from a varity of artist. I love the sound of twang and the melody of Merle and all the outlaws still amaze me. Take twang and southern rock...mix in that drivin' bass guitar... sprinkle in a little blue grass....stir in a little blues and that's all I need to be content. .. ..
