TERICA known as the straight pocket drummer giving you fierce and aggressive hits every time she sits on a set has been blessed with the gift of playing the drums to minister as the Holy Spirit leads and guides her. She gives God total reverence and praise for the gift He has blessed her with.
TERICA has been playing the drums for over 20 years. Music Director at the Gathering of Champions Church International in Marietta, GA for 10 years, before moving on to greater things in the music industry. She started playing the drums at 11 years old in her hometown of Chicago, IL, at a church called Ebenezer House of Prayer Apostolic Faith Church where District Elder Winston D. Thompson is the pastor.. She has played for numerous choirs and groups. Some in particular are Rev. Velmer Watkins & Angelic Gospel Community Choir, Pat Hamilton, the Atlantis Band, Black Coffee, jazz recording artist Fuzzy Brothers, Sean Shuffler Band, several studio sessions for major recording artist, and numerous Women’s Conference. Currently she is in the studio recording with rock band Not From Here.
She has the God-given skill to play a variety of styles that range from Gospel, Reggae, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Rock, Hip-Hop, and R&B. She believes God wants her to use the gift He has given her so His glory can be uplifted. “The gift of playing the drums was given to me directly from the Father above; I can’t play without His anointing and guidance.†Terica says.
Terica’s style has been strongly influenced by her favorite drummers, Sheila E., Sheryl Harper, Dennis Chambers, LaDell Abrams, Calvin Napper, Dave Weckyl, John Blackman, Cindy Blackman, Terri Lynne Carrington, Jeff Davis, and Christopher Coleman.
Terica plays the drums with a level of anointing God has put over her life to minister through music to the congregation, so they can praise & worship God. Her style of playing is very different from what you see today in the Gospel Industry. She states that, “As I am led by the Holy Spirit and humble myself unto God’s authority, I am not operating by the flesh, but I have welcomed God to have complete control. That is why I seek God daily for a new anointing every time I sit down to playing the DRUMS.â€
Terica recently graduated with honors with a MBA degree with a concentration in International Management and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Development and Leadership from Capella University. She has also created and developed her businesses called Anointed Drummer Percussion Services and Buttercup Entertainment which main focus is to manage and develop up and coming musicians and singers, and organize clinics and workshops.
