About Me
Joey Batters was one of Organized Crime’s most notorious hitmen, and also the last name which the rapper formerly titled, "Symon Sez", took his last name from. Sez began with his malicious hits on the music industry’s door at a very young age. Wearing his cross-color overalls backwards with his influenced little brother that we know as XV, Sez began learning how to rap studying Snoop Dogg and Kriss Kross. Him and his younger brother grew up and still followed their idols, Kriss Kross, and even performed their teenage hit "Tonight’s The Night" at every talent show available. As Sez grew older, he started to take more of an interest in art and sports. His brother, continued with his dream of becoming a music sensation as Sez followed his basketball career. After graduating, Sez went to the military and that’s when his eyes opened. It wasn’t exactly Sez leaving that made the quiet member of the First Draft to open his eyes, it was seeing his little brother becoming a star in their hometown doing something that they were both blessed with talents doing. XV remembers "I used to always call Sez and tell him about a show we’re about to do, or a rapper I just made a beat for, and how he needs to keep writing so I can put him on." Sez indeed kept writing and became better than XV actually expected. "When he rapped the stuff he wrote while he was gone, I didn’t believe it. I went through every CD Sez had that night to make sure he didn’t jack it, haha!"
Whether it’s the genes, skill, or just practice, Sez defiinitely can "spit". But, it's far more than lyrics when it comes down to Sez Batters as an artist. Let him tell it, he is an "entertainer". From shutting down venues all throughout fall of 2006, while touring the West Coast, Sez displays his lyrical skills on the mic performing mixtape favorites such as "Batters Up" and "What He Say". But, it is when Sez removes his famous "SB" chain, and hits the stage dancing, or better known as "crumping", that sets his audiences off. Some are in disbelief that such an MC would lower his credibility by doing dance moves, some are amazed at his courage and originality, and others are just satisfied to see a rapper who doesn't stagger around stage mumbling words into an overprocessed microphone. Sez Batters understands that he is an oddball in today's music industry filled with tough guys, pretty boys, and trappers, and embraces his "difference" on a song titled, "I Do". With a Fat Joe-sampled lyric saying, "My niggaz don't dance", Sez proclaims, "But, I Do!" Fans of Hip-Hop have witnessed courage before. They have seen swagger, and they have seen risk takers. All have not ended in chart topping careers, but Sez Batters is out to show fans something they may not be used to in today's Hip-Hop world. A rapper that is more than comfortable in his own (tattoed) skin.
