Seattle based singer/songwriter Kristin Carlson has musically come to age. After years of writing and collaborating she is in the works of writing and recording her first album to be released in 2007. Leading up to this point has been years of performing with various musical acts such as Krisin and the Fly Girls (the early days!), Femme Fatale, a Seattle show band, and The Vargas Girls Cabaret, which Kristin performed in as lead singer and also choreographer. Taking a big leap, Kristin relocated to Santa Cruz, CA where she paired up with Spanish guitarist Max Capestany, a long time friend and songwriter, to start her first original band in five years, Kustom Fab. After a year of settling into the Bay Area scene Kristin came to realize that Kustom Fab was only a catalyst to propell her forward. Reaching out into many different genres and working with an eclectic group of artists and musicians helped spark the right mix for her newest project and helped form the tightknit musical community that she celebrates now.
Currently, Kristin is working with British producer Mike Barnes to spice up the mainstream music scene. The stylistic components within their music ranges worldwide. Pulling from funk, pop, electronic, and even middle eastern drumming, they are merging all of the music that through time has inspired them. With songs such as Phunk in the Trunk, carrying threads of old sixties bass lines through the hooks, and Shake U R Bootie (The BellyDance Song), playing on Middle Eastern drumming and percussion, they have also attempted to bring out dancefloor worthy material.
Not only has Kristin pursued her passion as a professional singer, she has also carried her love of dance out into the spotlight. Having studied hip-hop, salsa, samba and bellydancing and gogo danced professionally, it is very important to Kristin that not only her heart and soul comes across in the music, but that the groovy beats keep you pumped as well.
It doesn't stop there. Occasionally, for a treat, you will see Kristin jump on the guitar or piano. Having put together a local acoustic act in Santa Cruz, she broadened her threat of becoming a well studied, well rounded musician with a plan. From composing and playing her own musical pieces, to choreographing and holding a vision for the performance art, to booking shows and collaborating with many people on all levels in the business, Kristin is shooting to the moon on a Platinum bullet.
