Growing up as a young adult in Cote-des-Neiges, I’ve always had an interest in music... Listening to different music stations such as K-103 & 90.3 has always played a big part in my life... Grouping up with members of “Earthquake Sound Crew†gave us an opportunity to travel to Vancouver, Sherbrooke, Ottawa, Toronto & New York. Always intrigued with different radio stations from different cities gave me the idea of always wanting to do my own radio show. Being the voice of Earthquake and doing many interviews with local radio hosts like: “Duke Eatman (K-103), Stretch (CKUT 90.3) and Masters at Work (CKUT 90.3)†posed a challenge that I craved and the experience that I need to then later do my own Radio Show as well being a D.J.1997-2000 John Abbott College, gave me the chance to host my own radio show. Which ran for 3 years consistently for 2 hours, once a week. Which then became the schools “Top Radio Showâ€. I did lots of radio competitions and featured on the show lots of Canadian talent such as Meta Force, Black Pearl and other local talents. Such events as ticket giveaways and party promotions also featured on the program. There was also special themes such as Valentines day; R & B nights and Old School Classics dating back to the 1960’s...This experience gave me a chance to connect with students on different levels and expose them to an “Urban Scene†that had not been done before. I also made it a priority to address topics such as Black History Month, Breast Cancer & A.I.D.S. The show was very creative and flexible to all subjects.2000-2001 Dawson College, presented me the same opportunity. Although the show had lots to offer the experience was different but was not as challenging as John Abbott’s. Although it was a lot more fun! Given it’s location (downtown) the schools urbanization had already been established and students knew more about the music. There was lots more to talk about and calls couldn’t stop coming in to the station. It was request...after request... Due to the end of my studies at Dawson College, I was unable to continue with the show and make it stronger. In summary, my experience and exposure to Radio Hosting & being a D.J has shown that by any means I am not shy, very creative and open minded . Whether it be in front of 5000 people or just a voice on the radio, I am very comfortable can handle the microphone. Throughout these stages I’ve been faced with lots of challenges and obstacles and succeeded. The merges of my experience can only lead to success.
