.............................THE PAST: Peter Wetherill was born in Los Angeles California on July 16, 1960. He began studding piano when he was eight years old and started studding trombone when he was ten. After graduating with a music degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania he performed with many groups and artists in the United States including: Ray Charles, Ed Shaunacy, and Doug Cameron. Before moving to Portugal in 2001 he was also the musical director for Renaissance Cruise Lines for three years................................THE PRESENT: Since arriving in Portugal he has performed with many local Jazz Groups and artists including: Maria Viana, The Alan Thomas Quartet, The Sintra Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra De Felicidade, Lisbon Jazz Orchestra, The Lisbon Swingers, The Reunion Big Jazz Band. Big Band Oest. Caravan Orchestra, The hot Club Big Band, The Claus Neumark Big Band, Greg Moore, his own quartet, and has been a member of TORA TORA BIG BAND since it was formed. He has performed at many events and clubs including: The Estoril Jazz Festival, Hot Club, Onda Jazz, The Seixal Jazz Festival, Casa Da Guia, the Centro Cultural De Belem, and Wallstreet, to name just a few. He is also a professor of music at the Jazz School of Torres Vedras.................................THE FUTURE: Peter Wetherill is now a permanent resident of Portugal and has many plans for the future such as producing recordings, continued work with TORA TORA, the promotion of jazz in Portugal and other original performance projects.............................................FAVORIT E JOKE: A lawyer, doctor and jazz musician all win the lottery and split the grand prize.
