The more people I meet... well you know how it goes. On one hand, I'd like to meet EVERYONE ... on the other hand, I'm pretty good with who I know, and might rather keep my ideals about those "famous" people intact, without meeting them!!

You can't go wrong listening to Stephen Fearing, Tom Wilson, and Colin Linden (aka Blackie and the Rodeo Kings as a group, OR the boys as individual artists...amazing!) Love all CanCon music - Twilight Hotel, Bruce Cockburn, Tom Cochrane, Colin James, and all the good bands from Canada! I'm also not opposed to a good listen to Green Day, Ev, Buckcherry, and Bon Jovi. The list goes on... and on...
Bull Durham... All time favourite. Kevin Costner's "I believe in" monologue is brilliant:
Annie: What do you believe in then?
Crash: Well, I believe in the soul. The c*ck. The p***y. The small of a woman's back. The hanging curveball. High fiber. Good scotch. That the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitution Amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas eve. And I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days...Goodnight. [He exits]
Annie (with a voice that could melt butter): Oh my.
Monty Python and The Holy Grail... "It's only a flesh wound..."
The Princess Bride... The Notebook (sniff sniff)... The Emperor's New Groove ("He ain't gettin' any deader!")... and Better Off Dead.
House, most things on A & E (I'm a sucker for a good gangster "documentary"!), Crossing Jordan, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report (grippy!), and any show that is well put-together.
I don't watch most "serial" shows, because my work schedule makes me miss every second week, and I would never take the time to watch what I've recorded. I've seen one episode of Survivor (first season) and that was enough for a lifetime. I think Desperate Housewives has it's moments, but won't purposely turn on the TV to see it.
I miss watching the Canadian TV shows like Air Farce and This Hour Has 22 Minutes, but I manage to catch a lot of it on the web.
I watch cartoons with my kids - OK, and even when they're not around, I watch Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.
Everything from Shakespeare to Wilde to Dickens to Bronte to Philippa Gregory to Ted Dekker to Tom Clancy to Ken Follett... you get the idea!
My heroes are the people who do what they feel they need to do every day of their lives, no matter what that is, or who thanks them, or who recognizes them publicly. My heroes are the relief workers in Darfur, the foster parents who care for FAS kids, the teachers who hug my kids and make them feel like they're somebody, the doctors who still have a sense of humour and the nurses who still have compassion for their patients. They're the artists that make the world beautiful and the corner grocery store clerk who double bags my canned goods and puts the eggs and bread on top. These are my heroes.
