We're a private multi-track recording studio and media production house owned and operated by producer/engineer/musician Dana Gumbiner ( Deathray , Night Night , Tape Op , LGS, etc.).
We were built in the hills near Grass Valley, California in January 2007 after Dana closed Brighton Sound, his former studio in Sacramento.
STS is a hybrid analog/digital environment with an excellent selection of outboard gear, plentiful mic cabinet and tons of vintage keyboards, amps, guitars and other noisemakers. The large main tracking room has 15' ceilings and a truly musical quality that, well, has to be heard. Two isolation rooms, a lounge with kitchenette, a full bath and patio offer additional functional space. Pro Tools, Final Cut Studio, Logic, Live, Max/MSP and a variety of open-source software apps live on the dual-processor Mac G5 systems - Metric Halo 2882 DSP converters clocked to an Apogee Big Ben plus 1/4" and 1/2" tape decks provide tracking, mixing, sound design and post versatility.
