Based out of the Niagara region —and leaving their mark everywhere they play— Flatlined is a band that makes and keeps its promises. Blending aggressive, melodic riffs with powerful but evocative vocals, Flatlined's sound appeals to a wide audience without losing its distinctive edge. With explosive live performances, touring over 180 venues in 2005 alone, and independently selling over 2000 albums along the way, this four-piece alternative rock band is proving they've got more than just potential to offer their listeners.
Flatlined is comprised of Wes Stonos (vocals), Jimi Battle (guitar/vocals), Chris Fraser(bass), and Brad McNeil(drums). It's been a busy two years for the band: a debut CD (Guilty Of… (2004)) now in its third pressing, shooting their first music video ("Bliss and Hell" (2005)), and a sold-out limited edition live CD/DVD are just a few items Flatlined has managed to fit in between sharing the stage with bands like Everclear, Collective Soul, Social Code, The Trews, The Salads, Faber Drive, Marianas Trench and Skindred. Recently the band was in the studio (Voodoo Records, Toronto) recording their sophomore album Deaf Leading the Blind. (In Stores Now) In conjunction with a cross-Canada promotional tour, this progressive new album promises to impress —and expand—Flatlined's growing audiences.
The band's hard work and determination to succeed in the music industry have not gone unnoticed. Industry sponsorships from Jim Dunlop, Los Cabos Drumsticks, Dava Picks, Spector Bass, and Firewire Strings each testify to Flatlined's professional appeal. "As an indie band, we've been lucky enough to benefit from endorsements and widespread college radio play just on the strength of our first CD," says lead singer Wes Stonos. "But our new album has really come together to reflect the progress we've made in songwriting and musical style." Great gear, a new CD, an independent national tour, and a tireless commitment to rock promise that Flatlined's successes so far are only the beginning. "We've learned a lot on the road," adds guitarist Jimi Battle. "I think we've proven to each other –and our supporters– that we're ready for the next step."
That next step may be just around the corner. Extensive print and e-media coverage, winning awards from Garageband.com (2005) and Mixposure.com (2005), Supernova Entertainment's People's Choice Award (November 2005) and being voted in Pulse Magazine "Band most likely to make it big" (2007) means that Flatlined will only continue to impress as they establish themselves within the industry. "The last twelve months have been a real accomplishment for us," says lead singer Stonos. "But we've only just started to explore the possibilities available in the music business. We feel like we're in a great position to talk about professional partnerships…and we're willing to work our asses off to get where we want to go."
