About Me

My name is Mike Dresch. I own a recording studio in Sioux Falls, SD called Cathouse Studios ( www.cathousestudios.com ). I have recorded well over 400 bands/projects since 2000 (probably somewhere over 5,000+ songs).
Most notable projects include Nodes Of Ranvier (all three discs on Facedown Records and their newest disc "Defined By Struggle" - recorded, mixed, mastered. Produced NOR's disc "The Years To Come" and "Defined By Struggle"), The Spill Canvas - "Sunsets And Car Crashes" (Recorded, mixed and mastered) on 111 Records, "Denial Feels So Good" on Sire Records (Engineered) and Jon Patrick McClaren's "Chasing Butterflies" (Recorded, mixed, mastered as well as most of the bass and a large portion of the electric guitar) for Stock In Rock Records.
Jon and I finished his second disc up during November of '06. I think it turned out very, very well. To hear some samples of the music, check out four of the new songs here: Jon Patrick McClaren Myspace Page
I also completed work on two releases on Facedown Records: Bloodline Calligraphy's "Ypsilanti" (recording, mixing and mastering) and the newest record by War Of Ages entitled "Pride Of The Wicked" (mastering). Facedown is a great indie label for hardcore and metal. If you're into these types of music, you should definitely check out their bands.
Another project I have finished working on is a full length disc with national Christian artist Angel Dean. The disc is out now and it is called "Light Me On Fire". In addition to the production work I contributed to the disc, I also had the honor of tracking some guitar out in Los Angeles with Bryan Carlstrom (Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Offspring, Social Distortion, etc). David Huff (drummer extraordinaire, brother of producer/guitarist Dan Huff, and excellent producer in his own right)produced the tracks as well as played drums on the majority of the record. Also on drums was Josh Freese (he being the drummer of the disbanded "A Perfect Circle" among many other studio sessions and projects). The songs are very strong and diverse. I think this is a great disc!
Also recently finished up the newest Sons Of Poseidon disc entitled "North American Metal". This disc will literally tear your face off so beware. I'm very proud of the way it turned out.
Projects of note lately: I finished recording the Sire Records debut of The Spill Canvas. This is a five song EP to be released prior to their full length later this year. Brad Smith, of Blind Melon fame is mixing the project. Big stuff indeed and a project I am very honored and blessed to be a part of.I also finished up the newest War Of Ages disc entitled "Fire From The Tomb". A lot of work in a very short amount of time on this one, but I think it turned out great.Another project I had the privilege of working on was Nodes Of Ranvier's disc entitled "Defined By Struggle" for Victory Records. This is my fourth disc with Nodes and I'm extremely honored and blessed that they came back to me this many times. Every disc they did showed progression and musical maturity and "Defined By Struggle" is no exception.Ultimately, my goal is to keep expanding my clientel to an even greater national level and get my name out there in the industry. I have the desire, work ethic and talent (or so I've been told) to do it.
I will be updating the playlist on this page with songs I've recorded over the years as I find them on myspace. These are songs that I feel represent good examples of my work with the musician's I had the privilege of working with on that particular project. Check out their pages as well! There's no stopping the rock in '09 and beyond!
Peace,
Mike
Why can't I find a drummer like this guy?
