About Me

I am from Burkburnett, TX. I was born there (Sheppard Air Force Base) and then I moved around a little bit when I was 3 1/2 with my parents since my dad and mom were in the military. My dad retired from the Air Force in 1979 and we found our way back to Burkburnett. I spent most of my school years there--from 3rd through 12th grade. I knew most of the people that I graduated with since it is a small town. I attended Midwestern State University until I transferred to Texas Tech University in the Fall of 1990. I earned my BS in Human Development in 1995. I taught in the private and public schools for about 3 years total before deciding to get out of that profession. I also worked as a Director with Sylvan Learning Centers for a total of about 3 years. I have been working for the State of Texas since 2001, first with the DPS and now with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. I have lived various places in Texas but now live in south Austin with my husband Rob (aka "Radar" to the friends that know him) and two cats, Romeo "Mo" & Juliet "JuJu Bee".Get Your Own! | View Slideshow

My Interests

I like to cook and experiment with new recipes (my husband loves my cooking). In my spare time I like to spend time with my husband, family and friends. I also like to watch tv/movies and mess around on the internet. I LOVE to watch college football--especially my Red Raiders! I am a die hard Texas Tech fan and have season tickets to their football games. When I am not hopping on a plane to Lubbock during football season, I can be found in the stands of my husband's Bobcats (Texas State University) watching their games and watching my husband work. When all the college football is over on Saturday, I enjoy watching the Miami Dolphins play! Get Your Own! | View Slideshow

I'd like to meet:

I would LOVE to meet Zach Thomas who plays for the Miami Dolphins (MLB). He's a fellow Texas Tech alumni. I have enjoyed watching him play both college and NFL.******************************************************** **

Music:

I like all kinds of music from classical to Metal. Most of the time it just matters on the mood I am in. I do have an extensive collection of 80's music. I still love most of the 80's hair band groups (Def Leppard, Ratt) and like a few of the grunge rock bands (STP, Live, Nirvana) Some of my favorite artists are Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Korn, Metallica, Godsmack, Pantera, Marilyn Manson, Union Underground, Blue October, Radiohead, The Prodigy, George Strait, Toby Keith, Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence, Kenny Chesney, U2, Prince, Eminem...I could go on and on :)

Movies:

Grosse Pointe Blank is my all time favorite movie! Seven, 5th Element, Resident Evil, Cars, Finding Nemo, Over the Hedge, Tommy Boy, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Heathers, Better Off Dead, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Breakfast Club...wow there are too many to name!

Television:

Nip/Tuck, All CSI's (I like Vegas the best though), The Sopranos, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Celebrity Fit Club, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Young and the Restless, Days of our Lives, Jericho, Grey's Anatomy, My Name is Earl, Food Network (have to keep that hungry man of mine fed)

Books:

Don't read much anymore...but I like Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

Heroes:

My parents...I wouldn't trade them for the world. They did everything for me and taught me to be who I am today. We are very close and still talk every Sunday evening. Both of them are the biggest support in my life and my biggest fans. I will always be their Pooh Bear!

My Blog

Nervous...

about having knee surgery on Nov. 21st.  I haven't been under EVER and that really freaks me out.  I am, however, ready to get rid of all the pain that I have been feeling.  I know that...

Hard to beat the Number 5 team....

when you have to play the #5 team AND the officials (well, they are #4 now).  Of course, some burnt orange clad people say that the officiating was more in our favor...I was at the game and talk...

I feel like throwing up...

My football team officially sucks!  Man, we might have beat A&M but it wasn't pretty.  Missouri was flat embarrassing last week and now the Colorado loss makes me want to wear a bag over...
