30 year old writer/director Michael Kratochvil was born in Melbourne, Australia 1977. He has been making movies since the age of 14. He attended Monash University and completed a Bachelor Of Arts Degree (majoring in Film & Television) in 1999. Following on from University, Michael worked as a bank manager, to help finance his film-making pursuits. In 2006, Michael resigned from the bank to pursue film-making full time. During this time, he wrote, directed and edited the experimental Wooden Ice Cream Cones, which screened at Melbourne Underground Film Festival 2006 and the short horror film 'Xeralel' which was accepted to screen at Fangoria's Weekend Of Horror's in San Jose California 2007 and has just been accepted to screen at the International Festival Of Cinema & Technology 2008. In 2007, Michael was accepted to the prestigious year long Graduate Diploma Of Film & Television post graduate course at the Victorian College Of The Arts, Melbourne Australia. During this time he completed 'Dearest Sir', a short drama staring multi award winning Australian actor Charles 'Bud' Tingwell (Innocence/The Caste) about a man who receives an enticing email sent from Nigeria. In late 2007, Michael completed his graduate, shot on Super 16mm VCA film 'Igor & Mal', about two brothers and their epic journey into the afterlife. Both 2007 student films will be submitted to film-festivals world wide in 2008. Michael's films are characterised by an imaginative, off-beat approach to storytelling and an arresting visual style. Michael plans to begin shooting his first feature film in 2008.
