Playing guitar, snowboarding, track day driving, meeting people, random humour, nature, sharing music, having a jam, football (Spurs supporter) and art amongst other things.
Hmm, a difficult one, as john peel once said - 'never meet your heroes', but where's the fun there?Well, there are many members of bands and individual artists that i'd like to meet... but i won't name them all here, just a few - Steve Wilson, Devin Townsend, Mikael Akerfeldt, Mike Portnoy and Robert Smith. Also, YOU (if you're nice)!! :)
I have a pretty varied music taste. I love emotive and demanding music, meaning music that demands the listeners attention rather then 'background music' like you might get on some dodgy chart hits 2007 compilation, whereby most of the songs are probably based around sex anyways - as Bill Bailey said, they're hardly plumbing the depths of the human psyche really are they?!?Just a few bands/artists I listen to (in no particular order): Jeff Buckley, Sigur Ros, Mum, Boards Of Canada, Soilwork, Ott, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, No Man, Dream Theater, Sasha, NIN, The Cure, Radiohead, In Flames, Tool, Pain Of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Strapping Young Lad, Sparklehorse, Jerry Cantrell, Alice In Chains, At The Drive In, Opeth, Metallica, Feeder's early stuff, Saul Williams, Ayreon, Pink Floyd, Ozric Tentacles, Riverside, DJ Shadow, Anathema, Abakus, Rush, Jameroqui, Incubus, Filter, Joan As Police Woman, A Perfect Circle, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Rufus Wainwright, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Cocteau Twins, The Beatles, Charlie North and many more...
Old Boy, Hero, Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, True Romance, Goodfellas, The Pirates Of The Carribean, Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, Silent Hill, Dog Soldiers, 300, the Alien Quadrilogy, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Almost Famous, JFK, The Elephant Man, Sin City, Disney Films (the good ones - not Bambi, Dumbo and other crap like that - yeah the films are for kids but hey, keeps me out of trouble eh)?!?!? Anyways, you get the idea!
I don't really watch much TV - not that I particuarly hate TV like a lot of people seem to in myspace! There is a HELL of a lot of crap on TV these days, but there are some gems out there - The Mighty Boosh, Nathan Barley, Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, Black Books, Family Guy, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Futurama, American Dad, The Blue Planet and Planet Earth (plus any other nature type stuff that I manage to catch), Have I Got News For You and a few other programmes here and there.
I mostly read Terry Pratchett books, but I recently read 'The Malice Box' by Martin Langfield - a great book (and a birthday present from my friend Soph, so hats off to the young lass)!! Band Biographies are always good too. Of course, The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings are great reads as well!
Steven Wilson, John Petrucci, Michael Akerfeld, Howard Moon(!), anyone out there trying to push themselves creatively, Steve Waddington - for opening my eyes and ears to so much amazing music and for being like a brother to me, and lastly all those with true grit!!!
