"The Gohils are a great, upbeat band making music that's got a bit of Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a bit of Jamiroqui." - PDM Music
We’re a 4-piece funk rock band, based in Luton. Andy (vocals/guitar), Chris (bass) and Darren (lead guitar) found each other at school, and have since been joined by a new drummer, Phil.
Originally conceived as the punk rock band – “you stick your fingers where?” – in 1996, the band broke up with 3 of the group heading to different universities around the UK.
10 Years later, a phone call from Chris started the ball rolling, and the search for a new drummer began. During this time, we began writing a number of acoustic songs. ‘Breakdown’ was born from these sessions and became the first song we recorded.
After a number of failed attempts to find a drummer, we were put in touch with Phil Clarke. Already an experienced drummer and performer, Phil has been a positive influence since the first rehearsal. Making the most of Phil’s previous recording experience and contacts, we committed our first songs to CD, and have been able to start playing live.
Our sound is based on making the most of what each member of the band brings to the table. Rock and funk feature heavily in the mix, with pop and soul having their own part to play.
If you like what you hear, get in touch, and hopefully we’ll see you in a town nearby soon!
