.::AboUt Me and my DreAm::.
Most people in their lives have at least once dreamed or imagined themselves as a huge superstar, maybe wondering what it would be like to perform in front of thousands of people. That’s how I feel everyday. I started singing at the age of two, a year before I began to talk clearly. I had been to so many speech classes, because as a child I had a stuttering problem and I was barely understood, but when I sung, it was clearer than the blue sky. When my family would get together for holidays and birthdays, they would all crowd around me, rub their thumb across the back of their fingertips (meaning money), and I would start singing. Performing has always been apart of me, and a day doesn’t go by that I don’t belt out a note. I never woke up one day and said to myself that this is what I want to do; it was already destined for me to be a singer, entertainer, and reach out to people through my music.
When I was in the 4th grade, I did my first talent show. I sung, “Reflection†from the Mulan movie soundtrack. That was the first time that anyone had really heard me sing in school, and I received a standing ovation for about three minutes. Although I was a nervous wreck before I got on stage, when I actually started to sing, all of that went away. It felt as if it was only me and the microphone in that room. As I watched everyone’s mouth drop when I belted my first note, I felt a sense of satisfaction, accomplishment, and freedom that I never knew came with being on stage. Soon after the talent show, I joined the school choir and won the role in our Christmas production as Mrs. Claus. Since then, I haven’t been able to stop entertaining on stage.
At thirteen years old, I became serious about singing, and got the opportunity to try and peruse it. My first mini concert was at the House of Blues in Hollywood in the summer of 2004. After that, I started to become heavily active in singing and performing. I have spent my weekends and summers recording songs, and meeting people that had the potential to take my career to the next level. Later that year, I began singing at high schools and middle schools with the SEAP school tour that acknowledges students excelling in school, and promotes saying no to drugs and gang violence. In the summer of 2005, I also performed in Nickelodeons four cities Evergirl Tour with the Jonas Brothers traveling to North Carolina, Virginia, Canada, and Philadelphia. In that same year, I was the opening act for artist such as Common, Genuine and Young Jock.
In 2006, my music started playing in local radio stations. Fortunately, got the opportunity to be interviewed on a few. I was also nominated for Best New Independent Artist at the Las Vegas Music Awards of 2006. That summer I shot my first music video, and I just recently finished my first album entitled,†Superstarâ€. As of right now, the door of opportunities is wide open for me; I’m just waiting for the right one. Being able to do all of these things with so much support is more than I could ever ask for. People that enjoy in what I do and believe in everything I stand for means a lot to me. Its fun to dream, but to be able to live that dream is something that everyone should experience in their lifetime, because it’s definitely worth while, and worth waiting for.
