About Me

Esther Orkester is not a great band name in english. I admit it. The initial meaning doesn’t rhyme when translated. Somewhat like life. Nothing like theory told me, and that is the song I sing.Esther Orkester is seldom an orchestra. Sometimes you just have to play alone. But occationally, someone comes along with their excellent piano or beautiful bass, and stuff happens. Like it does in some of these songs. The band has moved in and out of shape since early 2000, and right now it is settled with me in Oslo, Norway.Writing the songs and singing them. That’s what I do, like so many others, but with m y head heart shoulders fingers. My nosy nose sticking out. Someone calls this music hopeful melancholia, but while you’re here you might as well listen and not worry about the labels. If it takes you anywhere, it makes me happy.
