About Me

MySpace LayoutsThe name Maurice Nevelle Hodge is no stranger to the urban music market. From working as a musician with the top gospel music artists and choirs in the 70s and early 80, to the collaborations with many jazz acts in the mid 80s, to much success in the Rap and R&B/Pop fields as a producer in the late 80s and 90s, Nevelle has more than made a name for himself in music. A Brooklyn born-and-raised musician, Nevelle wore the additional hats as music and vocal arranger and writer with gospel and jazz acts starting from age 10, playing various styles on multiple instruments (keyboards, electric and double bass, lee guitar, & drums).
In the mid 80s, Nevelle moved to Mount Vernon, NY and continued working with musicians and artists in NYCs metropolitan area. He later linked up with local DJ Eddie F, where they started to work together in the late 80s/early 90s doing R&B and Rap projects, starting with the debut of the group Heavy D & the Boys, the group Eddie F was also a member of. That was the start of a production team effort between the two to create many more collaborations in both R&B and Rap. After having success doing original and remix projects like Jeff Redd, The Girlz, Christopher Williams and others, they decided to put a crew together called Untouchables, including Hip Hop producer DJ Pete Rock. The company experienced immediate rising success, adding even more producers and writers to the roster and is still considered to be one of the strongest forces of R&B/Rap in the early to mid 90s.
Nevelle continued to produce his own projects as well as collaborations with other producers on the Untouchables in-house acts like I.N.T.R.O., which he produced half the album and had three singles on their debut album (Come Inside, Ribbon in the Sky, and Love Thang), and the rap group Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth which he collaborated with Pete Rock on 2 tracks (Lots of Lovin, and Go with the Flow). Since then Hes enjoyed even greater success in keeping the hits coming, producing original songs and remixes for gold and multi-platinum acts like Al B. Sure!, Mary J Blige, Changing Faces, T.L.C., Queen Latifa, Mariah Carey, Johnny Gill, L.L. Cool J., and Michael Jackson to name a few. Nevelles also done some work in commercials and television, even collaborating on the TV show theme song for In Living Color with Eddie F and Heavy D.
Working as a music producer, writer, arranger, musician, and even singer at times, Nevelle has since branched off to create his own family of producers, writers, and artists with his company, Vellegem Entertainment. Keeping the goal of hit-making, his focus for his team has been about keeping an integrity for the art, making the level of excellence in everything most paramount in building well-rounded talent. The key, he believes, is the focus on skill development for everyone - writers, producers, and artists alike, taking the lessons of successful music machines like the Motown Era and making their techniques the basis of their growth.
With 2 new acts in development, hes still on the hunt for quality acts to make his camp complete. And with a gold and multi-platinum track record spanning almost 20 years, Nevelle has more than enough qualifications to keep bringing the heat. The proof is in the product, and the man known to be in the background is making his way to the front. Stay Tuned For ACT 2 Scrollbox Code Generated At HTMLGENS.com

I think my style takes on different personas, depending on the musical conversation I'm having with that artist, or that musician, or the backdrop the music mode starts off in. Your reactions change depending on what situations you find yourself in, and my music is no exception to that rule.
