Detroit Summer is a multi-racial, inter-generational collective in Detroit, working to transform ourselves and our communities by using creativity and critical thinking to confront the problems we face. Right now, we organize youth-led media arts projects and community-wide potlucks, speak-outs and parties.freedom schooling, media justice, environmental justice, urban agriculture, community potlucks, community speak-outs, block parties, youth poets, poetry for social change, murals, grassroots economics, self-sufficiency, self-determination, collective action, transformative visions, building networks of radical youth organizations across the U.S. and the world, connecting local and global struggles; building revolutionary community at the grassroots; youth-led transformation of our dying cities; reclaiming public space through art; rebuilding, revitalizing, and respiriting Detroit from the ground up; putting the neighbor back in the 'hood;making the road by walking; being the change we want to see in the world; thinking dialectically; seeing opportunity in crisis; rising from the ashes
