About Me

Popegustav started playing guitar in 1978 and almost immediately started the four piece band ''No Entry'' playing original material with some covers. live Gigs started to happen properly in youth clubs and pubs in 1980. This band was the start of a long affair with Punk bands, moving very loudly and drunkenly through a number of Blackburn based bands including ''Rabid dogs'' Who did many gigs in and around Blackburn highlighted by a slot on the Nottingham Punk festival headlined by ''Disorder'' and the newly formed ''Conflict'' ''Torture Garden''(18 Months of rehearsing for one great gig)and ''The Original Mushrooms''who became a classic support band for every one and anyone including ''Jayne County and the Electric chairs'',''Peter and the test tube Babies'' ''Dannielle Dax'' ''Guana Batz''and brief stints with the likes of ''Dr and the medics'' and ''The Macc Lad's'' Involved in many side projects with other bands like ''Three men gone mad''members of ''The not Sensibles''and ''The Stiffs'', ''Pressure drop (Clash tribute band) and others, Popegustav always had a passion for sound, finding that the Punk ethic worked but the sound had worn thin.
Tired of Britain in the late eighties after bad Management and Techno had made the Live band scene almost obselete, Popegustav Moved to Paris to join French Punk/Psychedelic band ''Goatsuckers'' who toured extensively in France alongside ''Shitbone and Pungy sticks'' and Switzerland where during a break formed ''Bernadette and the Bodybags'' with German artist/singer ''Bernadette la hengst''.
Living in the ''famous''''La Philosophe'' Squat in Geneva, many arts projects and session work were easily available which helped to gain much needed expeirience in top class recording studio's, After an aborted attempt at joining ''U.K. Subs during their 1992 tour(Too wasted to replace the wasted Guitarist) Popegustav joined ''Zarma'' a strange mix of rock, ska salsa with african rhythms alongside Gilles Lozac ex bassplayer with BB Doc and Assez both well heeled French rock/punk bands. Popegustav returned to Britain and became a new age traveller, buying an old Leyland bus and setting out for Europe once more. Playing as a duo or trio's met along the way, Popegustav got involved more in the underground Rave scene around Europe.
Eventually landing in Luxembourg and joining up with the ''Luxury'' Rave and party organisers putting on parties from the smallest bars to big Castles out in the country.
In 2005 Popegustav joined the Belge Anarcho/punk band ''Tha Last Wanted'' adding lead guitar to a solid Bass/Drums backline. Amove to Bulgaria cut short this project and was repaced by Tof, they are now gigging regularly and promoting their album ''The Last Wanted''.
During all this time Popegustav has never lost track of the fact that he is an instrumentalist and now spends most of his time in his recording studio in the Bulgarian mountains recording.
Popegustav will be returning to the live scene this summer playing with ''On Parole''(Clash tribute band) for a handfull of UK dates..
Recent projects have included a possible soundtrack for the forthcoming film ''Flawless'' Starring Demi Moore and Micheal Caine, some sound editing for tv and private work recording singers working on their own private project

When I was spammed on internet about U2 and Green Day recording a cover of the Skids' ''The saints are coming'' I was thrilled. This was one of the classic tracks from the punk era that was sort of ra...
