Vanity Shot formed August 2006, with intentions of playing music that we enjoy. We wouldn't class the band under any particular genre as we play what we enjoy and don't force ourselves to play one type of music. This is helped by the influence's the band carries, from hip hop, dance to metal and hardcore. We're determined to follow our dreams and we know the hard graft required, but that's the fun of it. We have aspirations of playing festivals and touring the UK if not more than that. We've dedicated our futures to music with the intentions of being the best we can be.
"Savage riff-laden guitar lines, brutal vocal work, and a flawless rhythm section: three imperative elements of any group who plan on succeeding in the current wave of emotional hardcore. So what makes these four teenagers from Thanet any different?
The beauty of Vanity Shot is their incessant refusal to conform to the now all too common post-hardcore stereotype.
With the groups cited influences ranging from Dizzee Rascal to Bayside, it becomes instantly clear that this is a band not ready to become another face in the ever-growing crowd that makes up the ‘new breed’.
From the outset, the brooding, yet sophisticated “Revenge Is Sweet†oozes adrenaline.
Lyrically astute (“We ended like a car crashâ€), and musically dynamic, this wouldn’t sound out of place on a Thursday record. This band has energy sweating out of every crushing riff, and every angst-ridden scream – I can only imagine intensity of the live show.
What makes this band so unique is their diversity; effortlessly fusing the musicianship of hardcore, with vocal melodies that will have you hooked for days – something special in a scene now overridden with often-indistinguishable grunting.
In Vanity Shot we have something for the future – already in the process of re-working, and intensifying their sound, I can only hope for great things from this foursome.
Watch out England, it’s time for your Vanity Shot."
