The Heartbreak Therapy (formerly Minutes Away) is the project of 19 year old Arielle "Rel" Myers. Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, she learned to play guitar at the age of 15. After moving to Texas in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the self-taught guitarist decided to quit sports and focus on making music. In Fall of 2006, this project was created. Soon after, Rel began to record songs using free trials of several different music programs and a built-in laptop microphone. In Spring of 2008, she recorded her first demo CD (click HERE to download) including the songs Time To Let Go and Stay. Since then, Rel has constantly been writing new material and coming up with ideas for her debut EP which she hopes to release later this year.
Some of you may wonder to yourselves where the name The Heartbreak Therapy comes from. At some point in our lives, we all need some sort of therapy to deal with what we've been through. It doesn't necessarily have to be REAL therapy where you have to go see a stranger and tell them your life story. It could be anything you use to get away from everything. It could be drawing, reading, running, listening to music, etc. The Heartbreak Therapy's goal is to make music that you can relate to. Music that you can use as your personal therapy in life. If your heart is broken for whatever reason, The Heartbreak Therapy is here to help and give you what you love most: music.
