The band started by an ideia of João back in 1998 . In 1999 wents in a demotape contest. It was called "Prémios Maqueta". An event that was pretty famous at the time. The demo was recorded by him along with a session drummer [Braza] and bass player [Correia]. In April 2000 Purge wins the award of best metal demotape of the year in Portugal with the songs featured in "The orange side of the Moon" DemoI'm Your Tool, My Girl and Dark Hole
