Please, please, please research the current situation in Darfur, Sudan. I know how easy and painless it is to live without seeing what is really occurring in our world, but it will never change if we continue to be concerned with ourselves. I believe that nobody would wish these disgusting conditions on any fellow human, and certainly not on people who have lived with much less than we could ever imagine. It is the first and largest mass genocide in the twentieth century and happening right now! It breaks my heart to know that thousands of men are being slaughtered daily, their daughters and wives are being brutally raped, repeatedly, and all male babies tortured until they bleed to death. Over 2 million very innocent people have died, simply for sport, in the past 3 years alone and the dangers are spreading to neighboring African countries. Think about the numbers! Darfur is the biggest humanitarian effort right now with scarce support. This is a very real crisis that is not only going unnoticed by the rest of the world, but blatantly being ignored by the United Nations and all able countries with more than enough resources to help. Please, make yourself aware, if for no other reason than to be selfish, because you will want to help and helping feels so good.
