I am here for Friends

About Me

"I had gone to no such place but to the smoke of cafes and nights when the room whirled and you needed to look at the wall to make it stop, nights in bed, drunk, when you knew that that was all there was, and the strange excitement of waking and not knowing who it was with you, and the world all unreal in the dark and so exciting that you must resume again unknowing and not caring in the night, sure that this was all and all and all and not caring."
---A Farewell to Arms
A recent email from my friend Wes (because it is amazing):
"Someday we'll share Cuban cigarillos in a cantina near Santa Fe de Bogota, and we'll speak of mischief as we puff our laughter into strange shapes. I'll wear a purple fedora, and you can point a shotgun at all the peasant girls who approach you about your dress."
Indeed, my friend, indeed.
But anyway......
I'm a graduate student diligently pursuing an MSW in clinical social work. In addition, I am generally stressed and miserable due to this fact. But I'm still totally cool! Seriously!

Something new.

I’ve been reading a lot about loss and the grieving process lately. And I suppose the timing makes the reading even more powerful. I think about this time last year and the impact loss and griev...

American Splendor

I was inspired to write this blog due to an experience I had at work tonight.... American culture frowns upon the need for help. And it really has little tolerance for the actual act of...

It kills me to have such little faith in some of the individuals in my life; individuals that are on their way to becoming the past and others that just "hang around." These indivi...
