The Estate

About Me

..This profile was edited with MySpace Profile Editor MySpace Profile Editor The Estate was an eclectic bunch of characters that had a rock n' roll band in Miami Florida, from 1997-2002. Formed by Luis Wong, and Alex "El Camello" Porro in 1997, as a response to their dissatisfaction with the state of the local, and national music scene back then. Both of these gentlemen had grown up together, and played in bands prior to that point. They began to write a handful songs based on their "love interests" at the time. The band began to flourish with the addition of Rey thorne on bass guitar. Thorne came in with lots of inspiration, and the trio's songwriting abilities began to evolve. They tried out a few singers, and chose local talent, Mike Romeu to fill the front man slot. The band's first incarnation was complete. They rehearsed and played a few shows together, and recorded their first demo before Mike was out of the band. They kept on gigging as a trio with Thorne taking over vocal duties until they recruited local singer, Alex Martinez to take over the lead mic. The new lineup proved to be the most productive lineup, and grew by leaps and bounds once Martinez was at the mic!! The Estate worked diligently after that point, and recorded their first full CD, "Out Of The Car" in 1999-2000. Their show schedule remained steady, and they played continuously for most of 2000-2001. Both Alex's (singer Martinez, and drummer Porro) left the band in 2001, and Luis and Thorne recruited Drummer Carlos "Scorponoks" Gonzalez, and bongo/percussion player, Bobby Abreu and trudged on, writing new songs, and forging a new direction for the band. They eventually began recording a self-titled EP featuring a more open sound, with longer, spacier songs, and continued to play shows in 2001. Eventually, Bobby left the band, and Porro came back to take over Bass duties, while Thorne switched to rhythm guitar, and main vocals. They continued to play shows with that 4th incarnation, and played on into 2002. Porro left Bass duties and the band, once again in 2002, and the band recruited Carlos "Los" Alvarez (who had been sort of a guru/spirit guide for the band in previous years) to play guitar, while Thorne switched back to Bass and Vocals. They continued to work on their self titled EP, but eventually Carlos "Scorpo" Gonzalez left the band, and Porro found himself ONCE AGAIN sitting behind the drum kit!! They played a few more shows in 2002, but it all came to a head after that point, and the band eventually called it quits in late 2002. All the members have gone on to work on their own musical projects, each one just as dedicated to making unique music as they were while they were in The Estate. This was a very special band to many people, and won't soon be forgotten!!...Enjoy this page!!---
