My name is Patrice, I am survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. When I was 25 years old (1997) I was diagnosed with stage 4B (that means it had spread to most areas and "B" means having symptoms) of mixed multi-celled Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer with bone inclusion (I had it in my bone marrow
too.) I had no clue what any of that meant. I didn't have very good internet skills to research, and my age group was not exactly pediatric or geriatric; so that meant I didn't have support other than my loving family. It was scary, it was lonely, and I never knew what to expect. I lost all of my very long hair and got fat from the steroids~ but after only 12 very harsh ABVD chemotherapy treatments... 6 months later- a miracle happened. It was gone! No radiation- no transfusions- no bone marrow transplants; although there was talk of a spleenectomy- but I think that scared the bejeezers right out of the Cancer! It has been 12 years since then and I have learned a lot working in a pediatric clinic. I have grown to know and love so many children and thier families. I have seen some tragedies but witnessed so many miracles. I hope that this website will help families share thier success stories; trade information with children who are newcomers to chemotherapy or radiation, bare witness to the sad passing of our loved ones, or just help keep us all in touch! Please use this space as you will, but keep in mind that we need to be repsectful and children of all ages will be viewing.
Much Love,PATRICE
