Biography
Creating their own style of jazz infused folk-rock, Fisher Street is a combination of well-polished artists, who are hungry to make their mark on the jam band fans of the world. Based out of Salisbury, North Carolina they have quickly built a solid fan base at the local colleges.
The band is composed of five musicians. Justin Dionne is the vocalist and guitarist. Writing and playing in bands early on in his life, the enthusiastic front man has made a name for himself locally by playing numerous shows and writing creative and compelling music. Eric Finland is a co-writer and keyboard/organ player. Playing classical for 15 years and jazz for five, his Ben Folds-infused piano style compliments the soothing vocals of Dionne. The drummer, Jennie Brooks, has been playing since age 12, adds spices of samba infused rock. She is truly at home behind the drums but always has a few surprises up her sleeve. The bassist, Dan Hazard, is the definition of groove and has been playing in various bands throughout his career. His ability to hang in the pocket, and become the backbone of the songs is a necessity for any good band. Rounding out the band is Therron Causey. The soulful saxophone player brings out the flavor of this original sounding band and accents some of the best qualities in the music.
Fisher Street recently released their debut album, a five song EP titled “In the Background of the World.” Recorded at AVA Recording Studio in Salisbury and Mastered by Dave Harris in Charlotte, it is an “auspicious debut” quotes a local newspaper. They celebrated the release in front of a hometown crowd of 300+ fans at Las Palmas Restaurant and Bar in Salisbury, NC. The local newspaper, The Salisbury Post, gave the CD a great review stating “The recording demonstrates a versatility in cohesiveness that is remarkable for a first effort by a fairly new band.” The review also commented on the band's individual sound by noting, “The group describes their sound as ‘jazz-infused-folk-rock', but they defy classification. The five songs on their EP display an impressive array and range of styles.”
With their dominant stage presence and funky live shows, Fisher Street will take you back to the days of Otis Redding soul, and bring it right on back to the present with their rock fusion.
