....Then suddenly, without any prior warning, Helen Bullitt started to itch. Now you or I will probably have experienced a number of itches before, I know I have. Sometimes you can scratch them and they are gone, sometimes they get stuck on the bottom of your feet and are so unbearable you find yourself having to unzip your boots and your socks to get to them, sometimes you may even find yourself rubbing your back up against a doorpost like a dog to get rid of them and some itchy bites can keep you up all night scratching like a chimp. Well, Helen’s itching, was more unbearable and unimaginable than all of these types of itching. Helen’s body, which had been so practical before, started to behave in a rather impractical manner, it was so itchy it felt like not only her bones were buzzing but her blood was too....
