About Me

Katarina started playing the violin at the age of seven. In her early teens she also began to compose her own music. And got totally devoted to it. That was the time she started to plan for her future in music. As the youngest student of the Academy of Arts (at age sixteen) she got into contact with writers/musicians that could further her career.
Everything seemed bright till the war came along and from a life dedicated to music she was thrown into a struggle to survive. As time went by she was forced to sell off her music equipment.
At the age of twenty-three she found a job as a violin and chamber music teacher at a local music school (till this present day).
Between the age of fourteen and twenty-three she played a lot of concerts; solo as well as part of chamber ensembles and orchestras. She also played violin in many of the local cathedrals.
Years ago she did a charity tour and the donations of these concerts went to the restoration of the old cathedral's organs. To her the acoustic and scent of a church is something very special. " I'll never forget the feeling during my playing. So divine and free."
Katarina composed music for an wide range of Serbian painters, actors and directors for their exhibitions or performances.
In 1996 she composed the music for a multi-media project directed by Milana Vujkov based on her collection of poetry "The Journey". This exhibition was shown at 'Dunav' Experimental Film Festival, and received critical acclaim.
In the same year, Milana Vujkov directed a short length (26 min) film, an adaptation from " The Shelter" a play written by her (in English). Katarina not only composed music for this movie but also acted the part of Marc Almond. " Shelter " was featured at the Portobello Film Festival in London in 1999.
Currently she keeps working on new material and developing musically.
Besides an accomplished violinist she plays piano, keyboard and guitar. Written by Tomash Serpant
