About me:I was born in Japan and lived in Chigasaki, a beach town about 1 hour from Tokyo. Soon after I took my first plane to California, where I spent my teenage years! Oooh ooh!
I studied flute with Thomas Robertello and Kate Lukas at Indiana University. A beautiful time with nature and like-minded friends who became like family.
Then moved to London to study ethnomusicology at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Meanwhile I studied shinobue with Emi Watanabe in London and self-taught composing and improvising, until, I got a jazz teacher, Len Arulieh!
... And back to the US... this time to New York City! I am working with Okinawan musicians, Spanish singer/guitarist, and Brazilian musicians. Meanwhile I am writing music for new projects...
I also teach flute in Williamsburg, Brooklyn & commute to student's houses. If you are interested please visit www.nobuflute.com
I love every kind of music- classical, jazz, Japanese, Brazilian, Arabic, everything and hopefully my work reflects that. Enjoy!
