About Me

What can I say? I'm a huge geek :)Things I like: thinking, problem solving; being active; details. Read, run, hike, laugh, hockey, kayaking, napping on the couch with my dog :)Quiet mornings great cup of coffee . . . cooking for friends and family . . . smiling children. . . and screaming ones, for that matter . . . puppy breath . . . those rare, intense bonds with strangers . . . wisecracks . . . general randomness . . .

My Interests

Ice Hockey, soccer, whitewater kayaking, boardgames, Confrontation (a tabletop miniatures game), miniature figure painting, reading, cooking (and eating!), zen, etc.

I'd like to meet:

Anybody that isn't afraid to live their life and chase what they want. People that want to know themselves and those they care about; people that refuse to believe that life is something that happens *to* you.

Music:

All over the place: Dirty Three, Nina Simone, Dresden Dolls, Low, Drive-by Truckers, At the Drive-in, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Melt-banana, Mogwai, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Six Parts Seven, Cafeteria, Sigur Ros, Six Organs of Admittance, Whiskeytown, 2pac, Goodie Mobb, Outkast, Pantera, Death, Einsturzende Neubauten, Kinderzimmer Productions, Zap Mamma,+ more

Movies:

Lots of favorites here: Raising Arizona, Better Off Dead, Lost in Translation, American Beauty, Requiem for a Dream, Bladerunner, Das Boot, Y tu mama tambien, Ammores Perros, Life is Beautiful, Red, White, Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Life Aquatic, Bottle Rocket

Television:

Lately has become the thing I set my mail on.

Books:

Love Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land;" "1984" and "Farenheit 451" and "Dune" are amazing. I start lots of others, but haven't found that gripping pageturner I've been craving lately. "The Fountainhead" is another favorite that I'm re-reading presently. Incredible characters, a bit preachy, but I love the writing and parts of the philosophy.

Heroes:

Too many to count, but I get most of my inspiration from my patients.

Good times

Nothing too special at work today, and a fairly routine night off, too. Picked up Dad on my way home to grab some dinner, then saw the children's book store, and it looked open! I nearly got plowed in...

Ode to the good days!

Somedays are just good days. And it's so easy to forget them if you aren't careful. So, what better occasion to break the seal on my blog-space than to give remembrance to a day that was really a grea...
