Im very excited about 2009!!! I’m progressively working on my album. It’s a mixture of styles blending acoustic, trip hop, electro, house and Breakbeat genres. I have started collaborating with some very talented folk and I’m really excited about the journey!!
On the DJ-ing front I'll be playing at some festivals including London Pride, the others I will post on here when confirmed.
For those who are interested: here is a little summary of my musical life so far:At the age of 1 I first started to play (bash!) the organ. From this early interaction I learnt to play by ear and hence proceeded years of cheating at piano lessons never bothering to read music. Despite this I managed to get grades in piano, harp and violin. I soon discovered the joys of singing and performed in a choir that recorded for the BBC. At age 11 I had to perform a solo in front of 2000 people and inadvertently learnt to opera sing with fear! Hence begun a long phobia of public performance! In the meantime life took many crazy twists as I got expelled from yet another school, frequently getting arrested and generally causing as much havoc as possible. Miraculously I somehow got into college where I achieved a fantastic education in the London dance scene! Then at uni I studied Philosophy in cognitive and computing sciences that qualified me to talk bollox intelligibly. More importantly I partied lots and did a lot more clubbing. I got involved with lots of club promotion and worked for a various different record labels including Red Ant, DV8, Essential and Beggars Banquet. My love for dance music grew to the point where I knew I wanted to be part of it. This propelled me to study sound engineering at the Old Skool studios and then at the Islington Music Workshop. Afterward I got a job at Rose Morris selling pro audio equipment. I was the only person ever to work in every department trying my hand at all kinds of instruments such as guitars, basses and drums. Here I bought myself some studio equipment and really learnt the technology I needed to produce. I went on to teach DJ-ing at the London School of Sound and computer music production to many people including blind and autistic kids.Somehow however my biggest passion of singing got very suppressed with the idea of ever having to do it publicly again! Then life took a tangent when my dad broke his neck and I had to take over his business as an art dealer. Spending a few hours in intensive care every day for over a year I saw the reality of how precious life is and committed to getting over my fears!
Since then I have had the great pleasure of performing and collaborating with some amazing bands and some very talented people. I have done a remix for Street player, written music for a short film and a documentary for NZ Natural History which was shown in the cinema, played piano for a few adverts and a house track. I have worked as a live engineer in London and New York and have DJ’d in London, Amsterdam and New Zealand.
